Rick & Ilsa are such an iconic couple, I mostly know the movie from their scenes.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00287429151542133314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847155578608673190.post-30786898947231715042014-05-28T21:20:06.034+08:002014-05-28T21:20:06.034+08:00Fun Fact: "As Time Goes By" was my weddi...Fun Fact: "As Time Goes By" was my wedding song.

It's the writing that always hits me when I think about this film. Lines that are so witty that seem to drop so easily like: "Madam, I love you - but he pays me" or "What is your nationality?" "I'm a drunkard". Anytime my imagination gets me thinking about how I'd love to live in a movie I wager that it's because I want to be that clever on-cue.

Glad this one hit the mark for you!Ryan McNeilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00440134802928893661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847155578608673190.post-37518513324493464182014-05-28T10:57:49.109+08:002014-05-28T10:57:49.109+08:00I thought it would be melodramatic and heavy, but ...I thought it would be melodramatic and heavy, but it's not. However, this is a movie I saw a long time ago and I really need to re-watch it to write something intelligent here.Mettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08094234448852441633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847155578608673190.post-726851814273372572014-05-27T05:08:29.128+08:002014-05-27T05:08:29.128+08:00Truly a beautiful review! I haven't seen this one either, but I'm putting it next on my watchlist because it sounds so, so lovely and I can't help but to adore the bit about the love triangle already -- you're right about the usual formula, and it's great to hear how things are done in this film. I'm so intrigued about the ending, too! Both work really well, but it's the sense of fun within the drama that really works for me. The cast is so good across the board. Sidney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Claude Rains all add so much in supporting roles. If you picked up the DVD, the Roger Ebert commentary is worth checking out for sure.
