Guilty Pleasure Movies Blogathon

Jenna and Allie of Flick Chicks are hosting their first blogathon! Before anything else, here are the rules:

1 - You can choose and discuss as many or as few movies as you like. We both did a Top 10, but you can just choose 1 movie if you like. Just tell us a bit about the movie and why you like it so much.
2 - Please create a new post for our Blogathon, rather than linking an old post you may have already done.
3 - Please include our Blogathon Banner anywhere in your post
4 - The deadline for entries is Sunday, 31st August, so there's plenty of time!
It took me a long time to finish my list because I honestly didn't know where to start.

It took me a long time to finish my list because I didn't know where to start. I think I've pulled out five movies that basically comprises the general tone of my personal guilty pleasure movies.

I'm not the biggest fan of Will Ferrell and Jon Heder just sort of disappeared after a few movies, but this is one movie of theirs that I like. It's silly, but funny at the same time. Sure, there were some awkward moments here and there, and the movie really cashes in on them trying to get along with each other, but I liked it. It also starred Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, who were also funny in their own weird way.

What drew me to this was the soundtrack. From the first song, I could already tell I was going to be listening to it on a loop. I know it's based from a book of the same title, but even if I didn't read it, I enjoyed the movie. Aaron Johnson and Georgia Groome were a bit awkward, but it's supposed to be this awkward movie about getting your crush to notice you and all that. The plot doesn't make sense towards the middle, and the lead character has some unlikable irks but you know how movies like this end.

The sequel was horrible, but I really enjoyed the first installment (and was looking forward for the third, but it got nixed). I really like the whole treasure hunting, artifact-seeking, kinds of adventure movies, so that pretty much sold this one for me.

I've always found this movie to be funny, even if some scenes were completely over the top. The antics of Shawn and Marlon Wayans work - they completely stole the movie. The movie makes me laugh, and sometimes that is all I need.

I don't care if the science of the flying bus is absurd, but I love this movie. It's thrilling to watch the movie unfold, and despite the very extended explosion scenes towards the end, it was still a fun movie. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock should make another action movie together. I really liked their chemistry here, so I guess it'll be fun to see them work together in another somewhat-adrenaline filled flick.

  1. Wow. I've never even heard of your 2nd movie. Sounds interesting. Everything about Speed is absurd, but it works so well. Cool list.

    1. Thank you. I watched the movie because I was familiar with the book title! Speed was just a great movie despite its flaws, not that I can say the same for the sequel.

  2. Oh wow, great list! I have to confess that I saw White Chicks for the first time this year. My friends quote it all the time and when they realised I was only pretending I understood, I was made to watch it straight away. The only reason it didn't make my list is because I now have no shame in telling the world how much I love it! Thanks so much for taking part :)
