Tomorrowland

I had expectations when it came to this movie. For starters, it’s directed by Brad Bird – he worked on The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ghost Protocol. So with his attachment to a movie came the stigma that he was going to deliver something good. The case isn’t exactly the same for Tomorrowland.

From Dusk Till Dawn

Have you been watching a lot of films about people being on the lam? Some begin to be quite repetitive, as it's always been the same issues dug through and through - mostly relationship based. If you're looking for something quite different, I don't think From Dawn Til Dusk can be not too different to satisfy that movie craving. I think I spent most of the film with a 'what is this?' sort of face. It really was what I wasn't expecting. 

Gravity

I've seen the trailer of Gravity once. When a fellow movie-lover mentioned that she was excited for it, I had to ask her why. It was, after all, just two people floating in space. I was wrong. The work was visually captivating. It was agonizing to watch one misfortune after the other, but seeing in projected in a vast area like that, all I can say is...wow. It captures your attention from the beginning, and it doesn't let go afterwards. I'm not a fan of 3-D, but I regret not seeing it in that medium. I think this may be one of those films that should be seen in the said medium, as it enhances the spacial experience. I honestly think this could be an Oscar contender for visuals and cinematography, as it managed to make space beautiful and scary at the same time.

Ocean's Thirteen

The first one: incredible. The second one: horrible. The third one: forgettable. I had been scrambling in my brain about the events that transpired in the third installment of the trilogy, feigning a single memory. That was why I decided to check out Ocean's Thirteen again, in hopes of remembering the events, and to be entertained. I did love the first one, and hoped that this was better than the second. It took some time but after a few scenes, I began to remember the details that went about. While it wasn't horrible like the second, it missed the spark of the first. 

The Ides of March

I've been meaning to write up a review for this but I don’t know where to start. So after numerous drafts, here it is: this is a misleading movie poster. Besides knowing that it’s a political flick, I don’t know much more about it. The local cable channel recently showed the movie and after watching it, I was caught off-guard. Not because of the plot of the film itself, but how the performances made it interesting. I tend to shy away from political films but this is a good one.
