This is Where I Leave You

This was one of my awaited movies of the year simply because I loved the book (and anything Jonathan Tropper seems to write, but my favorites so far are the source novel and How to Talk to a Widower). From the books I’ve read, Tropper seems to enjoy writing about dysfunctional characters, focusing his woes on male characters and applying them in situations where they can grow out of it. This was one of them. With a good source novel and an amazing cast line up, you would think this movie would be a gem. Unfortunately, it was not, but it still didn’t damper my love for the book and this cast.

Double Feature: Mr Peabody & Sherman / Muppets Most Wanted

Although I watch a lot of movies,  I don't get to review as much. Even if I do want to review something, my reviews about certain films are too short in length, hence I thought of compiling some reviews together. With that said, why not start with two films that star Ty Burrell? I managed to catch two of his movies this week. Both are children's films, and shows that Burrell has the potential outside of Modern Family.

Admission

Cast: Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Gloria Reuben
Director: Paul Weitz

Tina Fey and Paul Rudd are two of my favorite people in comedy. Paul Rudd has been making his rounds in the comedy genre, and while some of his movies weren't my favorite, his performance excels through and through. Tina Fey has this knack for writing and for delivering her lines. I've followed 30 Rock because of her. When she worked with Steve Carell and made Date Night, that spurned out gold. They're both good in their craft and they work well together. A Tina Fey and Paul Rudd movie should probably do the same. They're both great comedians and with the right story, this pairing can be gold. Unfortunately, that's not the case with Admissions.
