Thursday Movie Picks: Female Ensembles

Thursday Movie Picks is a weekly event hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves. This week is about female ensemble casts. I used up most of the movies I’ve seen in previous weeks, so it’s slim pickings for this week. Which just means I need to watch more women-centric films. Here are my picks this week.

Princess Jellyfish
A house of women tries to fight a corporation off the property when said corporation expresses interest to demolish the whole block to build a new venture. This was a charming flick, and there’s a lot of girl power involved.

Linda Linda Linda
When the band’s guitarists gets an injury, a group of girls try to find a new member, and ends up recruiting an exchange student to perform with them on a school festival. The events of the movie happen in a span of days, so there is a lack of character development, though the bond of friendship becomes evident.

Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging
Another guilty pleasure of mine, it stars pre-Avengers Aaron Johnson as a love interest, but the movie mainly focuses on Georgia and her friends, and the challenges (read: puberty) they go through as teens. This movie also has an amazing soundtrack. I'm not actually sure if this counts as a female ensemble flick as it mainly focuses on Georgia and a bit on her other friend, but putting it here anyway.

  1. I haven't seen any of these, though I've heard of the last one because of Aaron Taylor Johnson. They sound interesting!

    1. I went with mostly foreign ones as I've either used the movies in the other weeks, or haven't seen the more popular female ensemble ones.
